Fat Farm: Day 1

Fat Farm: Day 1  It has begun.

On my command….unleash hell

It took 2 days of hurry up and wait to get to my deployed location.  I hit the ground running and started in with the local military crossfit affiliate.  I honestly thought they were trying to kill me.  After a quick introduction and the obligatory “I am new” speech they immediately set me to task.  Below is the workout…each member of the team completed 25% of the reps.  I scaled the box jumps to 20 inches and the weight for the KB swings and TGs to 25.  (Don’t make fun of me…I almost threw up).   I have very lofty goals for the 5 months I am gone and I needed to start somewhere.  With the addition of crossfit, and hopefully yoga, I will need to relook at the deployment fitness plan and tweak accordingly.

I am using a couple iPhone Apps to monitor overall health status and recovery.
The sleep cycle app I am using is very unhappy with the sound of the air conditioning unit…I will need to figure out a fix.

There are always two.

No Blog launch would be complete without the support of my spouse.  My wife is an athlete in her own right and is always there to cheer me on (and vice versa).   She will compete at IMFL in 2014.

And so it begins….

This is my beginning into the world of blogging.  I spend a ton of time talking and sharing my favorite pastime and passion…it seemed logical to build a blog.  I am days away from a 5 month deployment where I am hoping to rebuild my fitness for the upcoming race season.  Swim…bike…run…crossfit…martial arts…  My goal with this blog is to create a record of my training and pass on the ups and downs of the journey.  Stay tuned.
